Who are our teachers?

All our teachers are recommended by conservatory faculty and have extensive teaching experience. Our teachers are selected from the top musicians and teachers from Juilliard, Oberlin, Manhattan School of Music, or Conservatoire de Paris.

What platform do you use for video lessons?

We use a platform called Appear.in. It is very similar to Skype or FaceTime except you do not need to download anything or make an account. One click, and you are connected to one of the best music teachers in the world!

Is this safe for younger students?

Yes! We use industry standard encryption and PPI-compliant payment processing. We also conduct a sex offender registry search and extensive interview for all of our teachers to ensure every student is safe and in a positive learning environment.

Who Are We?

Virtu.Academy was founded by Ben and Bryan, two recent Oberlin graduates with a desire to make private music lessons more accessible. After receiving a grant to start this project from Oberlin Conservatory, we set out on our mission: We believe every student should have access to private lessons no matter their location or financial situation.
