Lucas Porter - a national and international award winning pianist from Nova Scotia - is quickly gaining recognition across the country and internationally with media outlets such as The Montreal Gazette describing his double octaves as “The fastest since Horowitz’s, and even cleaner.”
This past May, Lucas completed an Artist Diploma at the Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio, USA. He will begin a doctorate in piano performance with Jimmy Briere and Jean Saulnier at the University of Montreal in September of 2019. In the winter of 2014, Lucas completed a solo tour of 21 concerts under the management of Jeunesses Musicales of Eastern Canada. He did another tour of the Maritime Provinces with Debut Atlantic in 2015. In 2017, he performed Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with the Oakville Symphony in Ontario. Lucas has been a semifinalist at a number of international piano competitions in the USA, Italy, Canada, and Japan.
