Amber Scherer is a rising fourth-year at Oberlin College & Conservatory, studying Piano Performance with Alvin Chow and Psychology in the College. She grew up in the Chicago area, where she studied with Professor James Giles of Northwestern University. She performed extensively in small and large ensembles as a member of the Music Institute of Chicago and Midwest Young Artists, in venues such as Harris Theater, the Chicago Cultural Center, and Ravinia's Bennett-Gordon Hall. Amber is an avid chamber musician and she performed last fall in an Oberlin Honors Recital with her longtime piano trio. Outside of music, Amber is dedicated to community service. She has written about on- and off-campus social issues in The Oberlin Review as a contributing writer, worked on the Conservatory Council of Students (2018-19, 2019-20), and is currently the Editor of the Back to Bach Project.
