Flutist Alejandro Lombo, from Miramar, Florida, recently graduated with his Bachelor’s degree from the Curtis Institute of Music under the tutelage of Jeffrey Khaner and will be continuing his graduate studies at The Juilliard School. Mr. Lombo has performed with the Philadelphia Orchestra, Symphony in C, New World Symphony, and the Curtis Symphony Orchestra. In previous summers he has attended the Music Academy of the West, Aspen Music Festival and was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America for three consecutive summers where he toured the USA, Asia and Europe under the batons of David Robertson, Charles Dutoit, Christoph Eschenbach, and Valery Gergiev. He has also toured Europe and the USA with the Curtis Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Osmo Vänskä.

In April of 2019 he toured Israel with a woodwind Quintet made up of students and faculty from Curtis as a cultural exchange project working with young Arab and Israeli musicians. Mr. Lombo is the winner of the 2019 Yamaha Young Performing Artist Competition and the 2019 Flute Society of Greater Philadelphia Young Artist Competition. Before entering Curtis, Lombo was first chair in the Florida Allstate Band/Orchestra for four consecutive years and studied with Dayna Cole in his hometown of Miramar, Florida. Alejandro has maintained a small teaching studio in Philadelphia and has worked with students from all over the country through programs such as El Sistema, Philadelphia All-City Orchestra and Curtis Institute of Music Social Entrepreneurship Program.
