Oberlin College and Conservatory of Music - B.A.
Alex Pinto is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, where he completed a Bachelor’s Degree in Trumpet Performance studying under Roy Poper. He has played trumpet in many settings since starting on the instrument in fifth grade.
In high school, Alex was an active member in the school’s Marching Band, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and also led rehearsals and sectionals for high school and middle school aged students. He was awarded both the John Philip Sousa award and the Louis Armstrong award in 2015 for his contributions to the school’s music programs.
In college, Alex performed with the Oberlin Conservatory’s Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, chamber groups, and sang in many school groups. He was also active in teaching during his time at school, and while home in Los Angeles during breaks, he would always maintain a studio of students to continue teaching music and brass instrument performance skills.
Alex is passionate about teaching, sharing, and creating music. In teaching, he believes that every student will have a different approach, but that care for the music always takes the top priority. He is able to teach either by ear, or using sheet music, so students of any age or experience are welcome!
